Your Fourth of July Weekend Outlook

The month of July will open with summer-like temperatures across the entire northeastern United States region.  In fact, these temperatures will be some of the warmest New England has seen since the beginning of June!  While many places in Southern New England should top out in the 80's on both Friday and Saturday (with 70's farther north), the warmest temperatures likely won't arrive until Sunday for most.  Some inland locations across Southern New England may threaten to pass the 90 degree mark Sunday afternoon.  For the most part, the Fourth of July weekend looks to remain mostly dry.  There are, however, some indicators that we may be dodging some raindrops over the latter half of the weekend.  A cold front will begin to approach the New England region from the Great Lakes late Saturday night into Sunday.  This will result in an increasingly humid day on Sunday as a warm front passes to our north overnight Saturday.  It will also increase the threat for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon during peak heating hours.  As of right now, I do think that the Fourth will be a mostly dry day (a spot shower/thunderstorm can't be ruled out given the expected warmth & possible humidity).  This will mostly depend on the cold front clearing our area by Sunday night (there have been some timing differences in the model runs over the course of today).  Some runs show the cold front making a very slow eastward progression over parts of New England on Sunday, not clearing the region until Monday evening.  Hopefully Mother Nature will straighten this situation out for us.  Stay tuned for later outlooks regarding my weekend forecasts!
